Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation
The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) is the only all hazmat fire and rescue agency serving the City of Atlanta. Established in 1882, AFRD serves City of Atlanta residents and visitors through a community and data driven service model by identifying the closest location or vehicle (apparatus) near you. When you call 9-1-1, Atlanta firefighters and EMTs are first on scene, ready to serve you, your family and/or your business.
Every firefighter/EMT is specifically trained for the community it serves, in the same way that every fire station or fire facility is designed, built, and staffed for the community and types of calls it receives.
As our city’s population and density continues to grow, so must the fire/ems workforce that supports the city.
The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation (AFRF) is the only nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization serving the brave men and women City of Atlanta firefighters and EMTs. AFRF supports City of Atlanta neighborhoods and communities by providing grant funding for workforce development strategies and community initiatives that create a sustainable fire/EMS staffing for a thriving city. Through its education, skilling and reskilling of firefighters as well as its capital projects of City of Atlanta fire and ems stations, AFRF supports communities by ensuring every community receives equitable access to fire and EMS protection.
Safe cities are created through community centered public safety. While the City of Atlanta cannot do it alone, we are there to help.
